Why use Pressure Treated Lumber?
When choosing a playset, quality is a must. Different places use different lumber so it can sometimes be overwhelming. Here in Georgia, we feel it’s best to use pressure treated lumber since there is a lot of moisture and the elements are always changing. Pressure treated lumber is best for those conditions.
Pressure treated pine is a great option for playsets because not only is it resistant to termites and decay, it’s also more durable and heavy duty, which when it comes to building a playset, that’s exactly what you want!
Let’s point out the elephant in the room…arsenic. There are a lot of parents concerned about arsenic in the wood. That’s simply not the case anymore. It is true that before 2003 they treated the lumber with arsenic, but today’s treating process is totally different and safe and does NOT use arsenic at all.
So we, at Swing Time Outdoors, feel the best choice is pressure treated pine because with its durability and moisture resistance it’s going to make the plasyset stronger and last longer for generations to come.
